This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Jenna, who recently marked an incredible 10-year milestone with our team. From starting out in Logistics Operations to becoming a Technical Specialist, Jenna has grown alongside the company—helping shape processes, mentor colleagues, and drive innovation every step of the way.
You’ve just celebrated your 10-year work anniversary with us! What did your role look like when you first started here?
My role when I first started was Logistics Operations Support. The team was a lot smaller back then, just a few of us fulfilling customer orders, now the team has doubled in size, lots more products shipping out the door! My role originally was spent loading devices and shipping products, but it quickly developed further to helping create training documents, teaching other team members and working alongside some of the other teams to gain knowledge across the board. I started to work closely with the technical team to transfer the some of their knowledge of troubleshooting errors to the logistics teams for us to become more self-sufficient in helping customers.
You then progressed to operations team leader, did you enjoy being in that role?
I absolutely loved being Operations Team Leader! I quickly found that I like the task of organising and managing daily workloads to hit SLAs and I really enjoy teaching people new skills and seeing them progress with their knowledge as the years go on! We have all become quite close as a team; we meet up outside of work for coffee, go for dinner and even to gigs and theatre shows!
Now you are a Technical Specialist, how did this role come about and how does it differ to what you did previously?
I was told we were looking at building a new team where the skills I’d developed being the Operations Team Leader would be useful for continuing to improve and progress how we work as a company. This new role uses the technical knowledge I’ve gained over the years and helps us to implement new processes or investigate current processes to find potential weaknesses that need addressing. This role is a lot more focused on the technical elements of our jobs, whereas previously I was a lot more involved in the despatch process. I am still working closely with the Logistics teams to be on hand for technical support and continuing to spread knowledge where I can!
What does a typical workday look like for you now?
No day is the same for me which I do like! First thing I do when I get to my desk is grab a coffee! Then I usually have a quick catch up with my team leader Zach to see if there is anything that needs our attention urgently and then a catch up with the Logistics Operations team to also check if anything requires my immediate attention. I can be doing anything from liaising with customers for application updates, preparing in house training for new products or even progressing my own knowledge in areas of the company I’m less familiar with. I also spend a lot of time making sure our Dangerous Goods procedures are up to date, Tracy (Operations Manager) and I are the Dangerous Goods Supervisors for the company, so we make sure everything entering or leaving our building is correctly labelled and documented for shipment!
How have you developed your skills since joining the company?
I have developed my ability to problem solve and I have learnt how to react quickly when priorities change to accommodate colleagues and customers.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in your career?
I think building great relationships and trust with those around you makes for a happy work life!
What’s a fun fact about you that your colleagues might not know?
In true 90s kid style, my mum took me to my first Boyzone concert at 2 ½ years old and I’ve been to every one of their tours ever since!
Other than seeing Boyzone, what is your favourite thing to do outside of work?
I love music. So, any time I can go to a gig or a music festival I’ll jump at the chance! I already have 3 gigs and a music festival lined up for next year!
If you weren’t in this industry, what career path would you have chosen?
I always wanted to be a midwife. I love to help people and I think being part of such a special moment of someone’s life would bring an incredible amount of joy and self-worth!
